We proudly present the Swedish artist Meta Isaeus-Berlin with a new installation especially created for Mare gallery.
It is said that anything built on sand is unsafe; intentions and plans are all without success. In their own time the ocean waves will travel the sand to other parts of the world to be mixed with other memories and other stories.
A scene is built along the shores of Crete, blending the memories ingrained in the local materials which are used together with the artist’s own – another point of view, different references, new perspectives and not least, from another country with its own history.
Influenced by Crete’s geographical characteristics, using materials such as sand, sea water and old furniture, Meta Isaeus-Berlin creates an atmospheric setting that will transport the viewer through a fusion of memories, nostalgia and expectations.
Meta Isaeus-Berlin is an internationally recognized artist, active since the early 90s with over 25 solo exhibitions around the world, such as Sweden, Germany, France and the USA. Besides having been a board member of the Moderna Museet Board and a lecturer at Konstfack University College of Art in Stockholm, Meta Isaeus-Berlin has exhibited her art in numerous galleries, museums, biennials and art venues, while her work continues to be represented in private and public collections all around the world. In Stockholm she cooperates with Galleri Andersson/Sandström.
