Passage is a series of photographs of an interior space that depicts variations of the same motif, symbolising how a certain space as a house can be a passage of time, memories and acceptance.
Aliki Chiotaki´s work explores the organic dialogue between the moving body, time and space and questions how bodies react in order to adjust to political, social and cultural changes. Chiotaki works with both video, photography and performance. She studied art in UK and Athens and lives and works in Chania.
In a cooperation with the scientific group of the Botanical Museum of Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (M.A.I.Ch.), Ephie Tsakraklidou explores the wild, rare and endangered plants of the Cretan mountains.
Being the first time that the human presence is absent in Ephie Tsakraklidou´s work, she still approaches her subjects in an anthropocentric way. Ephie Tsakraklidou have been working as a photographer since 1989 and have cooperated with different institutions, photographic centers, magazines and press. She lives and works between Thessaloniki and Chania.
Eva Voutsaki, Traces Within (from the series), lamda print, aluminium mounted, 67×100 cm
The series Traces Within shows images from an anecdote diary without beginning or end in a mysterious narrative of dislocated and ambiguous images that enable the viewer to drift away into their own memories, dreams and fantasies.
Eva Voutsaki works as a photographer and educator on Subjective Photography and autobiographical storytelling in Brighton, UK, even though she often visit her home town Chania where she gives lectures and seminars in photography. Her work focuses on mythology, memory, fantasy and the unconscious.
Departure is a project that started in 2011, based on the frequent desire to escape. Since that desire for the most times and for different reasons is impossible, Eleftheria Seistaki started a photographic project of her imaginary departure.
Eleftheria Seistaki started taking photographs in 2001 and have attended different seminars and lectures on the subject since then. She lives and works in Chania.
The impact of human activity on nature is violent and unbearable and need to be reversed by all means. Fotini Farmassoni´s project of negatives printed on plexiglas shows the human activity as an aesthetic co-existence with nature, as another reality, in another future.
Fotini Farmassoni, educated in journalism and French, have for the past eight years been involved in photography and have attended workshops and seminars as well as being an active member in the local photography club in Chania, where she lives and works.
“Hot spot. But not. So. Hot. -A different me”: Maria Michelogianni´s photographs explore her own inner world.
Maria Michelogianni studied photography in Athens and have explored documentary photography as well, even though she now prefers to work with more abstract themes. She lives and works in Chania.
Angeliki Douveri, Rendezvous & In the Garden, lambda print, 50×50 cm
Common ground for the different themes of Angeliki Douveri´s work is the experimentation with the boundaries of the medium of photography and the connection between the conscious and the subconscious, the real and the imaginary.
Angeliki Douveri is an artist working with video and photography and her characteristic collage work have gone through different stages of exploration – from creating collage images in the darkroom, Polaroid assemblages, digital collage and conceptual video art, to traditional collage with paper and glue. She studied photography and art in Athens, Brussels and London and lives and works in Rethymno, Crete.
